Fault Tolerant Flash (FTF): The Flash used in the RamSan-810 is enterprise grade eMLC Flash. Each Flash card in the RamSan-810 includes on-board RAID protection to protect against chip failure. In addition, an advanced chip-level ECC provides multiple regions of bit correction per block.
Series-7 Flash Controller™: One key to the RamSan-810’s uncompromising performance is the Series-7 Flash Controller. Based on high-performance Xilinx FPGAs and a PowerPC processor, the Series-7 Flash Controller is field-upgradable, ensuring that TMS customers will always have the best performance and latest features.
Variable Stripe RAID (VSR)™: VSR is a patented technology only available to TMS customers that drastically reduces wasted planes. If a plane fails, VSR automatically rebuilds and relocates the data from that plane. It then allows data to be rewritten to the area, dynamically altering the size of the stripe to avoid the failed plane. Under traditional RAID schemes, the entire stripe would have been unusable and all its remaining good planes would have been lost.
8 Gbit Fibre Channel: The RamSan-810 comes with new dual ported 8 Gbit Fibre Channel controllers.
QDR InfiniBand: The RamSan-810 can be equipped with up to two dual ported QDR InfiniBand controllers.
Active Spare: One FTF card can be designated as an active-spare that works hand-in-hand with the chip level RAID. If one of the cards experiences a failure that degrades its RAID protection, the system will immediately migrate the data on that card to the hot-spare to return to a fully redundant state.
Wear Leveling: The RamSan-810 includes wear-leveling technology that protects the underlying Flash media by spreading out writes and maximizing the write life of the system.
Completely Non-Volatile: Flash memory is inherently non-volatile. Batteries are incorporated into the design anywhere RAM buffers are used with enough power to synchronize the buffers to Flash.
Unparalleled Scalability: A single 1U chassis upgrades from 2 to 10 TB of Flash storage and two Fibre Channel ports or two InfiniBand ports. Multiple units can be added to meet any capacity or performance requirement.
Low Power: The RamSan-810 typically uses only 250 watts of power.

Expecting shipment of IBM 3592JB media, 700GB (2.1TB with 3:1 compression) and its all sold. I guess that there is a need for used media!

Yesterday I quoted a NexSAN E5310 and E5110 NAS to a client that has a number of NexSAN SATABeasts. This will be their first NAS and after much success with the SATABeast and yes SASBoy, they are willing to look closer at the NexSAN NAS option.

Reldata Unified Storage

Once again if you have purchased a Reldata in the past, you will consider a second or third box when the need arises. Just received an email from an existing client that has purchased a number of SAN and backup solutions from Sunstar requesting a quote for a Reldata NAS. “We like what we have and we want more!” This military contractor has the funding to purchase what they need and still they like the Reldata.

Other than purchasing a new 9240I iSCSI SAN, they want to add the NAS license to another, No need to purchase more servers, just add license and yes another 60TB in capacity.

Demand for NEO 2000E

Once again we see that tape is not dead. Just yesterday we received the 4th call of the week for a tape library with LTO5 drives. These prospects are like the NEO 2000E and this does make sense. Two drives and 30 slots, 45TB in native mode and a whopping 90TB in compressed mode. Tied in with a REO, are sure winners.

Another Reldata NAS in the bag

Yes, we just sold another tiered Reldata 9240i NAS. Client required a mix of SAS 15K drives and nearline SAS 7.2K drives.

Easy to install, and since this is their second unit I doubt they will need assistance for setup.

Solid State Storage

Again we have seen some success with the Texas Memory RamSAN line. We recently sold a 4TB RamSAN 620 and a 630. Also we are expecting an order (within days) for a 5TB 630. If you need to speed up your database, not just any solid state.

NexSAN Tiered Storage

Once again we are continuing to have success with NexSAN. We recently delivered a NexSAN SASBeast with a mix of SAS 15K drives and SATA 7.2K drives. Dual 8GB controllers. The customer says the unit is unbelievably fast.
